History
BDO Kendalls was forged from the combined strength and talents of several
well known and highly respected Queensland accountancy practices.
- Kennedy Bowly & Manson: After several years as a sole practitioner,
Rex Don Kennedy commenced partnership with Charles Bowly and Eric George
Manson on July 1, 1914 to form Kennedy Bowly & Manson
- Kendalls: Noel Kendall commenced as a sole practitioner in 1967. Noel
Kendall had a very early association with the credit union movement,
and the 1960s saw the establishment of many new credit unions; a large
number became clients of the practice. The growth in the credit union
audit area continued, and it became necessary in the early 1980s to
develop a suite of EDP programs to assist our audits, now known as 'CAPS'.
- Kendalls KBM: In October 1989, Kennedy Bowly & Manson and Kendalls
Chartered Accountants joined forces to offer a standard of service that
is highly regarded in local government and business circles.
- Greenwood Kendalls: On July 1, 1998 a long term association with independent
firms interstate was formalised as the Greenwoods Association, and Kendalls
KBM changed its name to Greenwood Kendalls.
- Cox and Goodman: Commenced in 1971 as Cox and Goodman a small
business services practice.
- Cox Goodman and Lanchester: Firm named Cox Goodman and Lanchester
in 1975 when David Lanchester joined the firm from Groom Sanderson (now
KPMG).
- Parkhill Lithgow and Gibson: Bruce Sackson became a partner in 1981
and the firm joined the National Association of firms Parkhill Lithgow
and Gibson which had offices in every state and territory.
- Parkhill BDO: A merger between the international firm BDO and the
national firm resulted in the firm being named Parkhill BDO the
BDO firm ranked 6th in the world internationally.
- Nelson Parkhill: A merger between the national firms Nelson Wheeler
and Parkhill BDO increased the size and prominence of the firm in Australia
and introduced major listed public companies to the firm client list.
- BDO Nelson Parkhill: A change to recognise the global importance of
the international network and to give the international name priority.
- BDO Kendalls: Greenwood Kendalls and BDO Nelson Parkhill's Queensland
partnership merged on November 1999 to form BDO Kendalls. This establishes
the firm as one of the largest professional services firms in Queensland.
- BDO Kendalls: Horwath (Brisbane) and BDO Kendalls officially
merged on 1st November 2002. The name of the firm remained BDO
